At the 2002 Reunion at the Club Nautique
Deux-Montagnes, we launched the
"Marriage Repertory of the Cheval and
St-Jacques families".
The Repertory contains 17,174 names and
7,898 marriages from 1,092 different locations. The document is
well bounded and includes a user guide and an index, which
facilitate research. It also includes a list of the families,
which could not be connected to our common ancestor Jacques
Joseph Cheval.
One of the major objectives of the
Association is to encourage our members to acquire a better
knowledge of their origin, their ancestors and study their
history. The publication of the Repertory, a major work of
which we all are proud, allows us today to provide our members
with a genealogical document of quality.
The data file of the genealogical data
accumulated for several years by Suzanne St-Jacques (03) has
been selected as a starting point for the central database of
the Association. It was further was enriched by considerable
data provided by Gilles Lalonde (157) and his wife, Charline
Leger, and the contents of the "Repertory of the Cheval
dit St-Jacques Families" published in 1994 by Gaston
St-Jacques (02) who combined the data of Gaston and Maurice
St-Jacques (06).
The directories contains marriage
information from various parishes of Quebec and elsewhere,
compiled by Marcel St-Jacques (34), his brother Réal
Saint-Jacques (55) and Alphonse St-Jacques (08).
We thank and pay homage to all these
artisans of this document which crowns their tireless work
during the last few years.
The Repertory was well received at the
time of the Reunion. We encourage you to purchase your own
copy.
Alphonse St-Jacques (08), President
