The “Association des familles
Cheval dit St-Jacques d’Amérique” was born
thanks to the initiative and drive of its founding President
Maurice St-Jacques (m06) of Laval.
It is a non-profit association,
incorporated under a provincial charter.
At the first meeting held on November 30,
1996, 18 founding members joined the Association and made a
request for a charter.
On March 31, 2003, 110 members were
active in the Association.
Since its foundation, the Association has
co-coordinated research activities and allowed enthusiastic
genealogists the opportunity to pool the results of their
research and their efforts to establish a reliable and
validated data bank.
We wish to thank in particular Suzanne
St-Jacques (m 03), our archivist, responsible for the
verification, co-ordination and upkeep of all our genealogical
data, as well as Maurice St-Jacques (m06), Gaston St-Jacques
(m02), Gilles Lalonde (m157) and his wife, Charline
Léger, Marcel St-Jacques (m34), Réal St-Jacques
and Alphonse St-Jacques (m08) who graciously donated their
information to the Association.
Our data bank contains over 17,000 names
and 8,000 marriages from more than 1,100 places.
